Download Resume

David Hill is a Research Scientist and Software Developer originally from Jackson, Tennessee. His professional interests lie in the creation of technology to aid in human mobility and athletic endeavors.

Currently, David is a Senior Research Scientist for the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he studies the mobility patterns of professional baseball athletes in hopes of uncovering the hidden attributes that lead to elite performance.

Previously, David completed his doctoral work under Prof. Hugh Herr in the MIT Media Lab's Biomechatronics Group. His dissertation focused on the development of a mathematical model to simulate human gait based on a novel multi-joint gait analysis method that tracked bone motion using x-ray videos. Ultimately, the model will contribute to robotic assistive technology for amputees and persons with conditions affecting mobility.

David holds a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Media Arts and Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a bachelor's degree in Physics from Morehouse College. While completing the bachelor's degree, David developed diffractive optics for extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lasers at Morehouse’s Micro/Nano Optics Research Laboratory (MORELab), led by Prof. Willie Rockward, in collaboration with Colorado State University’s EUV Engineering Research Center.

Additionally, David has a passion for service and education. In particular, he is devoted to initiatives motivated to improve access to and the quality of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education for students from underserved and underrepresented populations.
